So far this year we've had 50 lb or so of honey ...
Thanks to a colony receiver from Moddershall who returned a colony transporter, with frames.
The opportunity has been taken to renovate the box to a much more secure level.
(I should have done that before.)
At the beginning of July, what was probably a cast went into Alan's hawthorn tree: too dense (the tree, that is) to retrieve.
And another one, probably also a cast, in wet weather, into some very dense ivy.
Meanwhile, a swarm of a reasonable size was taken from the back hedge without too much trouble, into a box.
Which will be going to a new home in the very near future. Good luck, Stuart.
Different bee news came from BBC "Today", and is on the Files page. Here's a link.
I was approached on Monday 15th June 2020 by the tree tidying people, about what turned out to be a nest of buff-tailed bumble bees.
The bees were somewhat exercised by having their nest trodden on (we think). But they calmed down, and tree tidying resumed.
